It’s out! I’ve been waiting for this book for so long! All I can say is–blown away. Completely blown away.
Book three in the Everstone Chronicles is beyond good. I rarely review books I cannot recommend (and I always feel terrible when I can’t!) but, let me tell you, I highly recommend this book. The entire series, in fact.
The Captive Imposter follows heiress Estella Everstone, masquerading as Elle Stoneburner, after her family agrees her safety is assured by a false identity and a move from the family residences. Yes, plural. An heiress must have plenty of homes, should she not? :) Companion to the elderly Mrs. Granton, her new employer surprises her with a retreat to Everston, Estella’s own family-owned resort and hotel, where she finds the most unexpected thing.
Love. Acceptance. Romance.
But will Dexter Blakeley, the manager of her father’s hotel, still care for her after he learns of her deception? What of the man who still wants her brother dead? (The reason she went into hiding in the first place.) And what of Jay Crawford, the love from her past? Will his sudden appearance make her long for him, or seek Mr. Blakeley that much more ardently?
I had to wait stinkin’ months to find all of this out, but you can find out right away! I’m jealous! ;)
And don’t forget to check out the first two books in this series! Gorgeous covers, beautiful heroines–inside and out–and truly captivating tales. All of them.
Out of all the heroines in this series, I most strongly relate to Estella in The Captive Imposter. She is shy, quiet, and withdrawn, and Dexter Blakeley has to dig to find her heart of gold. Reserved and lovely, with a heart for the Lord and people, Estella made me empathize with her, rooting for her until the very end.
(Btw, why do books this good have to end? It’s terrible, I tell you!)
Dexter Blakeley, the hotel’s manager, was dark, brooding, not easily likable–until you got to know him. Then the prickles fell away and you realized his tough demeanor only disguised his true character and integrity.
Such a good cast of characters.
An excellent book–I’ve already read it twice!
I hope you’ll enjoy book–this series–as much or perhaps even more than I did.
